How to Update your Windows XP

Updating your Microsoft Windows XP operating system helps your computer stay up-to-date with the latest drivers, software and critical operating system updates. You could download all of your updates directly from Microsoft's website, but the process can be time consuming and confusing if you don't know what updates your computer requires. Fortunately, Windows XP allows you to automate the process by automatically downloading and installing the necessary updates that are required to make your computer run smoothly and securely.

Instructions
  1. Log in to your computer as the Administrator.
  2. Click the "Start" button on the bottom left side of your screen. Click the "Run" button.
  3. Type "sysdm.cpl" in the Run box. Click "Enter."
  4. Select the "Automatic Updates" tab. Click on the "Automatic" option to allow updates to be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer. Click the "OK" button.
