How to Extend a C Partition in XP

The "C" partition, or "C" drive, is traditionally the main drive on your system and the one that houses the Windows XP operating system files. Extend the size of your Windows XP C drive partition when you wish to allocate additional space to this most-important drive storage area. Accomplish this with the disk partitioning tools in the operating system.

Instructions

  1. Click "Start" and click "Run."
  2.  Type "cmd" and press "Enter."
  3. Type "diskpart.exe" and press "Enter."
  4. Type "list volume" and press "Enter."
  5. Type "extend noerr" to extend the C partition.
